RONALD McDONALD HOUSE VISIT

Hello Everyone!

Several years ago, Stampin' Up! partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) to bring comfort and creativity to the lives of Ronald McDonald House guests. We are pleased and honored to have become a national sponsor of RMHC. Together, these two caring, helping organizations have created an environment in which House guests will be able to enjoy creative expression in the comfort of their "home-away-from-home." As part of Stampin' Up!'s ongoing commitment to the RMHC, an annual contribution of $100,000 is made to the RMHC. These dollars come from the sales of a stamp set that is specifically designed for the RMH. This year's set is Say it with Scallops. It can be found on the inside of the back page to the new Spring/Summer 2009 Ida Book & Catalog. This year, my friend and co-demonstrator Terry Brinkman and I are in charge of the program at the Cincinnati RMH. Each month, she and I (as well as other local demonstrators) visit the RMH to make cards and projects with the residents staying there. Our first evening was the week before Christmas. This past Thursday, we visited again and took Valentines Day card and candy packaging items for everyone to make. 

We saw a few of the same families as we had in December. It's nice to see familiar faces but our hope and prayers are that they are able to return to their homes as soon as possible. I had a delightful time stamping with 10 year old Taylor and her mom Bev again. Taylor and Bev have been at the RMH for over a year now. They most likely will spend most of this year there too. As they explained to me, Taylor needs a specific type of kidney and vein transplant that can only come from a cadaver. This weighs heavily on Taylor since someone must die for her to receive the transplants she desperately needs. Bev has given me permission to post pictures of our time together. So, here are photos of us from Thursday night: 

    

If you would like to help us with the RMH, there are many ways you can. One way is to donate cards for the families to use. They are always in need of cards to sent home to their family and friends. Lots of Thank You cards are needed. I will be going down a couple of times a month and would be happy to take down any cards I receive.

Answering Your Questions...

Hello everyone!

I have had several questions regarding our Decor Elements since I posted my Decor Elements photos. I would like to answer a few of these questions for you.

1. Can Decor Elements be used more than one time? No, once the Decor Element is applied to any surface, it can not be reused.

2. Are they hard to apply? No, if I can put these up on my walls, you can too. It did takea bit of prep time to apply the saying over the mirror. I wanted to measure the area and make sure I had everything aligned properly. There are very easy to follow directions that come with each Decor Element that you order. It is as easy as 1-2-3!

3. Are they difficult to remove? No, they come off in a snap. There is no residue left on the wall or on the window when they are removed. Well, finger prints on the glass. A bit of windex takes care of that! Here are a few pictures of me taking down my Christmas Decor Elements:

                                                                                                              

     

Now that they are removed...I miss them! They added a wonderful touch to my Christmas decorating. I will definitely do that again next year. What I have learned with using these as part of my home decor, is that is a very quick and easy way to change things up a bit. All for little cost too. I've had a sneak peek at what is coming with the release of Decor Elements III. Oh my goodness, it just gets better and better! Remember, that these do not have to be used on your walls or windows. With small Decor Elements, you can create decorated tiles or frames to use as unique gifts. Because they do come in different sizes, it's easy to create coordinating furnishings...wall and accessories in a room for instance. Several coordinate with stamp sets in the Idea Book and Catalog.
